1. NSFC announced Major Research Program for Basic Research on New Devices in the Post-Moore Era (后摩尔时代新器件基础研究重大研究计划), link to call

This major research program is centered on the following scientific questions:

Cultivation Program:

1)         Theory, Materials and Integration Technologies for Ultra-Low Power Devices超低功耗器件的理论、材料与集成技术

2)         Theory, Materials and Integration Technologies for High-Speed and High-Performance Devices高速高性能器件的理论、材料与集成技术

3)         Energy-Efficient Computing and Storage Architecture高能效计算与存储架构

Major Program:

1)         Ballistic Transport Devices at Ultracold Temperatures超低温下的弹道输运器件

2)         High Mobility Stacked Channel Surround Gate CMOS Devices高迁移率堆叠沟道围栅CMOS器件

3)         Research on highly robust SRAM memory-computing architecture and its large-scale scaling architecture高鲁棒性的SRAM存算一体架构及其大规模扩展架构研究

Data-Driven Storage and Computing Integrated Computing Architecture 数据驱动存算集成计算架构

Award: 5 cultivation programs,  800,000 RMB per each for 3 years; 6 major programs, 3 million RMB per each for 3 years; 3 Integrated Programs,15 million RMB for 3 years

Experience in undertaking basic research projects; 

Senior professional and technical positions (titles);

2. NSFC announced the Guidelines for Collaborative Research and Exchange Programs on Biodiversity with NSF of US link to the announcement 

Collaborative Research Programs:

The Biodiversity for a Changing Planet project builds on the Multidimensionality of Biodiversity and the Intersection of Ecology and Evolution projects but focuses primarily on the functions and dynamics of biodiversity in the context of a changing planet. Dimensions. Please see Annex 1 for a description of the specific areas of funding.

Cooperation and exchange programs:

The aim of this collaborative exchange program is to facilitate the creation of new research teams among researchers from participating countries in the Biodiversity for a Changing Planet project. Applications based on existing collaborative teams will not be funded. Please see Annex 1 for a description of specific funding areas.

Award:  

l  For Collaborative Research Programs: Chinese entity has 4.5 million RMB per grant from NSFC, us institute receives 2.5 million USD per grant from NSF. 

l  For Cooperation and exchange programs: Chinese entity has 1 million RMB per grant from NSFC, us institute receives, $ 500,000 per grant from NSF.

Eligibility:

For Collaborative Research Programs:

1)       Senior professional and technical positions (titles);

2)       Proposal PI must be leading PI in the NSFC projects that last at least 3 years; 

 For Cooperation and exchange programs:

Proposal PI must be the leading PI or the main participant in the currently on-going NSFC projects that last at least 3 years.

The Chinese and foreign applicants should be new collaborations designed to lay the groundwork for subsequent substantive collaborative research.

Due date:

The applicant from China shall submit the proposal to NSFC and the counterpart in the US shall submit the proposal to NSF.
