Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei National Center for Technological Innovation is calling for proposals for the National Key R&D Program: Disruptive Technology Innovation Key Project.

Budget Total: projects will be selected based on actual needs. Successful projects will be organized to complete the SOW, and after signing, funds will be disbursed according to the project milestones.

Project Requirements:

  1. The Special Program is positioned as an exploratory and developmental initiative, without specific project or topic guidelines.
  2. The focus is on foundational and strategic industries within the economy and society, as well as prospective scenarios with the potential to become foundational and strategic industries.
  3. The anticipated demand to be served has a significant current or potential scale, with notable pain points in demand.
  4. It encompasses important cutting-edge technologies for theoretical breakthroughs or deeply interdisciplinary new technologies.
  5. It possesses independent intellectual property rights and has a strong exclusivity.

 

Project Period: the project duration is set to be within 2 years.

 

Eligibility and Quota Requirements:

  1. There are no restrictions on the educational background, title, or age of the PI.
  2. The PIs should possess the capabilities and energy that align with the project requirements.
  3. The PIs shall be the proposer of the main research concept and the scientific personnel who leads the research projects.
  4. The PIs may take on this special project even after reaching the limit on the number of projects under other national scientific and technological programs; however, they typically should not undertake more than one project under this special program simultaneously.

 

Evaluation Criteria:

  1. The special program adopts a “combination of offline guidance and formal application” approach.
  2. “Offline guidance” means that project units submit their basic information and project information through the center’s dedicated email (dipa@jingjinji.cn) for initial screening. After passing the initial screening, the team submits a project proposal, and the center conducts validation, plagiarism checks, and specialized consultations, helping the project team continuously optimize the proposal. Following a comprehensive evaluation, candidate projects are established and stored in a candidate project pool.
  3. “Formal application” refers to the submission of official project application materials for the registered projects in the National Science and Technology Management System.
  4. Based on factors such as national strategic deployment, economic and social development needs, and future leadership roles, special projects will be further selected from the registered projects. Typically, one batch of projects will be established in the first half and another in the second half of each year (with major projects being approved at any time).
