Research Goals:

To support Macao’s integration into the national scientific and technological innovation system, advance scientific cooperation between the mainland and Macao, promote the interconnection of innovation resources, drive collaborative efforts to address shared scientific and technological challenges, and enhance coordinated development of innovation capacities for mutual economic and social prosperity, a joint mainland-Macao funded R&D program has been established for 2025.

Budget Total: approximately 15 projects are planned to be funded, with a total estimated national government funding of 30 million RMB.

Priority Areas:

1. Information and Communication Technology
2. Engineering and Materials Science

Project Period: 2-3 years for each project.

Other Requirements:

1. Both collaborating parties (Macao and Mainland China) must submit project applications to their respective departments; project application materials submitted by only one party will be considered invalid.
2. The applying institutions on both sides should have an established foundation of collaboration for the project. The cooperation plan should clearly specify arrangements for exchanges, mutual visits, and joint research plans.
3. The collaborating parties have signed a cooperation agreement or letter of intent, which must include specific provisions on intellectual property rights.

Eligibility:

1. PI must have the title of professor/associate professor/principal researcher scientist or a doctoral degree (高级职称或博士学位).
2. PI should be born after January 1st, 1964 (under 60 years old). The annual working time dedicated to the project should be no less than 6 months.
3. PI shall be the proposer of the main research concept and the scientific personnel who leads the research projects.
4. Experts involved in drafting the implementation plan of key projects or this year’s project guidelines are not allowed to apply for this project.
5. The proposal needs to be nominated by Jiangsu Department of Science and Technology.
