If you are 18 years of age or older, your parents won’t be notified unless you sign a “Release of Information” form. If you are under 18, please ask your counselor about the changes to confidentiality.

For individual counseling, students will need to make reservations through Point’N’Click or email (caps@dukekunshan.edu.cn). If students contact us via email, CPAS will try to reply within 1-2 working days. For detailed introduction of each type of service, please visit Clinical Services.
Yes. For currently enrolled DKU students, CAPS provides online counseling service via Zoom for those students who are not able to return to camps due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
If you have a particular request, (e.g. for a specific counselor or for a specific clinical issue) you can email CAPS or the specific counselor directly. Although we cannot always fulfill your request, when asked we do try to honor this request. However, the wait time for the appointment may be longer in this case.
Unless you are being accommodated for a specific request, you will be scheduled with whichever counselor has the first available appointment that matches your schedule.
All Initial Consultation appointments and following appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes.
CAPS utilizes a brief therapy model in most cases, which means most clients come in for no more than 6 sessions per semester (two sessions). Counselor may make referrals when needed.
We encourage you to share your concerns with your counselor first as counselors are open to change. However, If you still don’t feel comfortable talking with that particular counselor and would like to schedule an appointment with a different counselor, we absolutely understand and you can request it by emailing us at caps@dukekunshan.edu.cn.

Yes. If you or someone you know experience a crisis and need help, please come to CPAS during Walk-in hours or dial DKU Emergency Hotline: 0512-3665-7110. The CARE team is also available to assist. CAPS is unable to prescribe medication, but can provide psychiatric resource. Please see Referral Services for more details.
