Canvas

All the latest information about Canvas at DKU has been moved to this new CTL website for Canvas

Duke University and Duke Kunshan University are moving from our current learning management system (LMS), Sakai, to the Canvas platform. A select number of courses will use Canvas for Fall 2023, but all instructors will be using Canvas for Spring 2024. Collaboration Sites, Canvas’ equivalent to Sakai’s Project Sites, will not be available until Spring 2024 at the earliest. For more details about this transition, visit https://go.canvas.duke.edu

Below are the resources for instructors (aka early adopters) who teach with Canvas in Fall 2023. CTL is developing regular and open-to-all workshops and training materials. Please stay tuned.

Access Canvas

This URL will take you to the Canvas page: https://canvas.duke.edu/

*Note: Everyone with Duke NetID can access Canvas. If you did not receive the “early adopters” training from CTL over the summer, you will not see your Fall courses in your Canvas dashboard and you should plan to continue using Sakai for Fall 2023.

Resources

Communicate with your students

We highly recommend you communicate with your students about the use of Canvas before the course starts. They will manage both Canvas and Sakai at the same time because only a small number of courses are in Canvas in Fall 2023.
