This event is co-organized by DKU Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Club and Center for the Study of Contemporary China.

Moxuanzi 墨轩子 (Jiaxiang Yan), of the Tujia ethnic group, was born in Jiangkou, Guizhou, at the foot of the Fanjing Mountain. He is a contemporary artist whose work is inspired by Zen Buddhism. As a practitioner of Zen painting, Moxuanzi also serves as the dean of the Qingquan Zen Art Academy and is a contracted artist with the CCTV (China Central Television) Ink and Wash Painting Academy. At this workshop, Moxuanzi will not only showcase his artistic techniques but also offer personalized instruction and insights. Participants will be introduced to the story of his artistic journey, gaining an understanding of the influences that have drawn him into the world of ink wash Zen painting, all within the context of his reflections on various philosophical thoughts.
