Abstract
The rise of global Chinese games coincides with the platformization of Chinese society. Drawing on interviews with game industry professionals in China, this article leverages the platfomization perspective to interrogate the industry-platform entanglement. The findings illustrate how the distinctive production logic of key industry segments meshes with the platform logic to fuel the globalization of Chinese digital games. This work pushes the boundary of existing literature on Chinese digital games and the game industry, advances the scholarly debates on China’s global cultural influence from an industry standpoint, and contributes to a deeper understanding of how platformization affects the globalization of cultural products in the Global South.
