What is database? What are the differences between databases and search engine? Is there any search tips for database searching? To answer above questions, you must come to attend the 2ndlibrary workshop in this semester: Using Research Databases. In this session, you will understand why Duke/DKU Library subscribed more than 1,000 databases and what those databases are; you will do a fast-speeding dating with Web of Science, JSTOR and some other “must-know” scholarly databases in the university; you will also learn many search tips, such as “Phrase Searching”, “Booleans”, “Truncations” to help you get relevant resources more effectively. Be sure to bring your laptop to get the most out of the session.
