Two DKU undergraduate students, Xinmeng Chen and Haozhe Zhang, will present their research, “Quality Enhancement and Computer Vision Techniques-based Character Show Time Analysis for Kun Opera Video Data,” supervised by Ming Li. Kim Hunter Gordon will join the session as the commentator.

Student Presenters

Xinmeng “Nancy” Chen is a third-year data science major at Duke Kunshan University. She is interested in computer vision and, in her spare time, enjoys hiking and bike riding.

Haozhe “Hayden” Zhang is a third-year data science student at Duke Kunshan University. He is interested in voice conversion and especially enjoys the moment of finishing debugging because it means he will have spare time to enjoy basketball.

Presentation Supervisor

Ming Li received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California in 2013. He is currently an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke Kunshan University. His research interests are in the areas of audio, speech and language processing as well as multimodal behavior signal analysis and interpretation.

Commentator

Kim Hunter Gordon received his PhD in Asian Theatre and Dance from Royal Holloway, University of London. He is currently Assistant Professor of Chinese and Performance Studies at DKU, where he teaches theatre, media and history. His research is centred around kunqu, with current projects concerned with cultural memory, embodied cognition and musical linguistics.
