Duke Kunshan University has decided to postpone classes in all programs until Monday Feb. 17 in response to concern over the novel coronavirus outbreak in China and overseas.
We will also be restricting access to our campus to essential personnel only. All other members of the Duke Kunshan community – students, faculty who do not reside on campus, and staff – and outside visitors will not be permitted to enter before Saturday Feb. 15.
Students who remained on campus over the Spring Festival break are required to stay on campus until Feb. 15 or make alternative arrangements. We will continue to provide students on campus with resources, services and support, including dining and cleaning services. We are also closely monitoring their well-being, offering health checks, physiological counseling and emotional support, and distributing surgical masks.
The university is providing financial support to international and Chinese students who wish to return home until classes restart.
As we adapt to developments surrounding the coronavirus, Duke Kunshan may be required to revise class schedules further. We will share updates as we have them on this page and on Facebook and Twitter.
Members of the Duke Kunshan community who traveled home for Spring Festival are advised stay there, while those who traveled to a third destination are advised to stay where they are or return home, unless they are from Hubei province.
Some airlines and other public transportation companies are offering refunds for those affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
Anyone suffering symptoms including shortness of breath, chest pains, coughing, breathing difficulty or a fever of 37.8 C (100 F) or above should seek immediate medical assistance.
