Duke Kunshan University is located in Kunshan, one of the most visited tourist destinations in China’s Yangtze River Delta. Kunshan is conveniently situated between Suzhou, just 37km to its west, and Shanghai, which is China’s largest city, only 50km to the east.

With a residential culture modeled after the world’s greatest universities, the Duke Kunshan University campus environment encourages the exchange of ideas and continuous learning and growth in the classroom and beyond.

The Research Map plots details of ongoing research projects undertaken by our faculty. It provides a visual representation of  the geographical outreach of our research activities. It is also intended to increase opportunities for collaboration, and to engage directly with researchers working on topics of interest to them.

Duke Kunshan University is located within the Kunshan Yangcheng Lake Science Park, the first phase of the DKU campus includes classroom and research spaces, student and faculty residences, dining facilities, an executive conference center, and recreation and leisure spaces.

It’s easy to catch Kunshan’s municipal buses on campus, as city bus stops are located at each gate of the university. Kunshan bus routes 19 and 22 stop near our north gate. At the west gate, bus routes 31 and 32 are also accessible.


Free bicycle rentals are available at the west and north gates of Duke Kunshan University. 

The city’s convenient bike rental system provides quick and easy access to high-quality bicycles located throughout the city. A free app is available for downloading and after a swipe to grant usage, you’ll be on your way to exploring all this beautiful city has to offer.  


Duke Kunshan University provides daily round-trip shuttle bus service between campus and Kunshan South Station, which is just 12.7km away. The shuttle takes 30 minutes each way, and taxi service is also available.

China’s fast bullet trains stop at Kunshan South Station, allowing expedient and speedy travel to cities that include Shanghai (18 minutes), Nanjing (1.5 hours), Beijing (5 hours), and more. The highest train speed can reach to 350km/h. 



Two airports are located a convenient distance from the Duke Kunshan University campus: Pudong Airport is Shanghai’s main international airport, and Hongqiao Airport is the area’s older airport that serves domestic flights and a few international destinations. Both airports are easily reached by car.
