Academic year 2016-2017 marked the start of the environment program at Duke Kunshan University. We have been focusing on building three pillars for the program: the unique international Master of Environmental Policy (iMEP) program that integrates environmental management with public policy, the multidisciplinary Environmental Research Center that addresses the pressing environmental challenges in China and beyond, and the emerging think tank that contributes to the ongoing environmental policy debate. Reflecting on the past year, I am pleased with what we have accomplished and how we have generated local, national, and global impact.
We have been successful in hiring high-quality faculty and staff to build a young but vibrant environment team. Students around the globe are turning to us for the innovative iMEP program that prepares future global environmental leaders. We have started exciting new research projects with support from reputable funding agencies such as the US National Science Foundation and China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection. We have launched two new initiatives that bridge academics and policy, one in quantitative environmental policy analysis and the other in green finance. Our academic and research activities have been reported widely by Chinese and international media.
I believe we have laid a solid foundation for the environmental program in the past year. With all this in place, we are excited to build on the momentum that we generated in the first year and look forward to the inaugural class of iMEP students.
Thank you for your support!
