Duke Kunshan University Humanities Research Center is pleased to announce its fall conference, Future of the Humanities: The Gender/Sex Turn, on Sept. 20-21.
The conference features four outstanding keynote speakers:
- Josephine Ho is one of the world’s foremost scholar/activists working on questions of gender, sexuality and marriage equality.
- Yingying Huang is China’s leading sociologist of sex work and HIV/AIDS.
- Yin-bin Ning is Taiwan’s foremost theorist and philosopher of masculinity.
- Yueyue Wenren is one of China’s leading young authors, whose latest novel, “Amber,” was listed as one of the best Chinese novels of 2018.
The keynote speakers will offer seminars for selected Duke Kunshan students at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. Students will have the opportunity to meet the keynote speakers, receive a copy of their books, engage in a small seminar and participate in the banquet dinner with speakers.
In addition, six parallel sessions will feature the work of humanities and social science professors from Duke Kunshan University, New York University-Shanghai and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.
