CHINA Town Hall is an annual event designed to inform and educate the general public as well as students and professionals about the latest developments in the US-China relationship. It will be carried out in over 100 cities across the US and in China this year, it allows for local communities across and beyond the United States to discuss issues in the Sino- American relationship with leading experts.
This premier event will first feature a webcast of Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State. Condoleezza Rice reflects on her long history of working on the U.S.-China relationship. From January 2005 to 2009, Secretary Rice served as the 66th Secretary of State of the United States, the second woman and first African American woman to hold the post. She also served as President George W. Bush’s Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs (National Security Advisor) from January 2001 to 2005, the first woman to hold the position.
And second, there will be a live panel on US-China education cooperation and the internationalization of higher education in China led by our Executive Vice Chancellor, Dr. Denis F. Simon. Dr. Simon is one of the world's leading experts on science & technology policy and higher education in China. Joining Dr. Simon will be Dr. Cao Cong, Professor of Nottingham University Ningbo and Mr. Ted Plafker, Correspondent in the Beijing Bureau of The Economist. The topic will be “Talent, Technology and Trade: The New Critical Issues in Sino-US Relations”.
