Summary of talk:
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that greatly threatens human health. It is a global public health and social issue, and one of the major diseases prioritized by China in prevention and control. This talk will focus on the achievement and challenges of tuberculosis control and the epidemiology since 1990. This period covered ear of MDGs and the beginning of SDGs.
Lixia Wang was employed to be the director of National Centre for Tuberculosis Control and Prevention of China CDC from 2006-2018. She graduated from Beijing Medical University with a master degree in public health in 1989. She started to work for Tuberculosis Control Project of MOH since 1989, and ever acted as the vice director of the Administrative Office of the Tuberculosis Control Center of MOH and the executive director of the Tuberculosis Control Project Office of MOH successively. After that she was recruited as Programme officer for TB control in WHO China Office from July 2002 to Nov. 2006. She was the member of Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Tuberculosis of WHO (2014-2016), and the member of Technical Advisory Group for tuberculosis of APRO of WHO (2010-2015). She was the general secretariat of Union APR (2014-2017).
