About The Lecture

We will discuss the trends of obesity and obstructive lung diseases and the impact of adiposity on asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung dysfunction.

About The Speaker

Dr. Yue Chen is a Full Professor and the Director of Graduate Studies in the School of Epidemiology, Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Chen received his medical degree and doctorate in epidemiology from the Shanghai Medical University. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Saskatchewan. He was a recipient of National Health Research Scholar Award from the National Health Research and Development Program (NHRDP), Health Canada, and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Investigator Award. Dr. Chen's interests are in the areas of chronic disease epidemiology (cardio-respiratory disease, cancer, diabetes). He is mostly interested in the environmental, genetic and social determinants of chronic lung diseases including asthma and COPD and of lung dysfunction. He has so far published more than 230 peer-reviewed articles.
