About the speaker

Professor Hua Fu is a medical epidemiologist with a PhD in public health. Currently, Professor Fu is a Professor and Director of the Health Communication Institute of Shanghai Fudan University. In the past, Professor Fu had hold many key positions including the Deputy Dean of the School of Public Health, Fudan University and the Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine, Fudan University. He was also the President of Committee of Public Health, Shanghai Association of Medicine, and Board Member of Chinese Association of Preventive Medicine. Professor Fu’s research is focused on community-based intervention of chronic diseases such as stroke, diabetes, and related risk factors, especially on smoking control, physical activity promotion and chronic-diseases self-management. His research work was funded by many prestigious institutions including World Health Organization, China Medical Board (New York), Shanghai Committee of Scientific Technological Researches and China Ministry of Health, to name the few. He has published more than 70 peer-review papers in local and international journals and edited 5 textbooks in Chinese.
