NetIDs

All DKU students, faculty and staff receive a Duke NetID. Your NetID is your “electronic key” to a variety of services at DKU and you will use this as your username when logging into DKU and/or Duke systems.

  • Students will be given a NetID when they accept a DKU admissions offer (matriculate), and will receive an email at the non-DKU email address they provided on their application.  That email contains a link that allows new students to activate their NetID.
  • DKU-hired faculty and staff will have their NetID created by DKU Human Resources.  Contact HR staff for assistance in initiating this process.
  • Currently-enrolled Duke students and Duke faculty/staff will continue to use their Duke NetID while at DKU, and will not receive a second NetID.

During the activation process, you will be required to create a strong, secure password for your NetID.  Optionally, you can also enable multi-factor authentication, which requires you to have a device you own to access some or all NetID-protected services.  We strongly recommend enabling multi-factor authentication.

Your NetID is private and for your use only.  You are not allowed to share your NetID password with anyone else, or to give anyone else access to any software, services or resources that are protected by NetID.  No one at DKU or Duke will ever ask you for your NetID password; report any requests for your password (typically from viruses or phishing emails) to DKU IT staff.
