DKU BOARD OF TRUSTEES HOLDS FIRST MEETING IN 2015

Duke Kunshan University’s Board of Trustees held its spring meeting on the DKU campus April 15-16. Chancellor Liu Jingnan reported to the Board on DKU’s operations during the 2014-15 academic year, including student affairs, teaching assessment, curricular highlights, academic research, campus facilities and external relations and student. The Board reviewed and approved DKU’s operating budget and a number of other operational plans for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Gao Haiyan, vice chancellor of academic affairs, reported to the Board on the development and planning of DKU’s research initiatives. Duke Provost Sally Kornbluth and Provost Emeritus Peter Lange, former described the progress of planning for a four-year undergraduate degree program to be offered in the future at DKU. In addition, the Board had in-depth discussions about academic and campus planning for DKU’s second phase of development.

DKU’s Board of Trustees is vested with the power and authority to govern and set policy for DKU in accordance with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and the university’s Articles of Association (AOA) and Cooperative Education Agreement (CEA). The Board maintains oversight of the university’s strategic planning, maintains fiduciary duty to DKU, and is responsible for ensuring DKU operates in a manner consistent with applicable PRC laws and regulations as well as within the AOA and CEA.
