the 4th eoYouth Summer Field Trip Concluding Conference was held on the Duke Kunshan University campus

Sponsored by Energy Observer magazine and organized by the Master of Environmental Policy (iMEP) program at Duke Kunshan University, the 4th eoYouth Summer Field Trip Concluding Conference was held on the Duke Kunshan University campus October 23rd under the theme of ‘Energy Development: Reform and Innovation’. Hosted by Dr. Shuyi Wang, director of Government Training and Professional Education Programs at Duke Kunshan, the conference was well attended by Dr. Haiyan Gao, vice chancellor for academic affairs, and Dr. Junjie Zhang, director of the iMEP program and Environment Research Center at Duke Kunshan, as well as Zhixuan Wang, secretary general of China Electricity Council, Dr. Min Hu, program director of Carbon Economic Growth at Energy Foundation China, Dr. Xuzhu Dong, vice chief engineer of China Southern Power Grid Research Institute, Jie Feng, executive vice editor in chief at Energy Observe magazine and Xiangyang Chen, deputy general manager of China Southern Power Grid Media Co., Ltd.,. Representatives of the ten research teams, who came from different universities around the world, presented their field trip findings at the conference. The guests then had a panel discussion and commented on the performance of the research teams.

Panel Discussion

The two research teams from Xiamen University and Duke University were awarded the highest award for their outstanding research methodology, the significance of their research topic, and the high completion rate of their projects. The research topics of Xiamen University Team and Duke University Team were off-grid power in islands, and household energy consumption in Mexico respectively. The audience was also deeply impressed by the exceptional performance of the students.

The ten selected research teams from around the world shared with the audience their field trip findings at the conference.

After the ten teams were awarded certificates, the concluding conference ended with a closing speech by Dr. Junjie Zhang. Sponsored and instructed by the eoYouth Summer Field Trip program, undergraduate students who are interested in energy issues had a great opportunity to complete an innovative research report that tackles real-world energy issues.
