GHRC Signs MOU for Living Lab Program in Chongqing

June 4, Chongqing ‘ DKU Global Health Research Center (GHRC) team, two Amsterdam Health & Technology Institute (AHTI) experts, Michiel Heidenrijk and Mark J. Geels, and Prof. Ninghua Wang from Peking University visited Chongqing Medical University (CMU) and Dianjiang County from June 1 to June 4th. Michiel Heidenrijk is the Executive Director of Living Lab program, Mark J. Geels is a senior Program Manager. Prof. Wang is the Director of Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the First Hospital of Peking University. They visited the local hospital, discussed the specific details for the cooperation of Living Lab program and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

On June 3, GHRC team, AHTI experts and CMU faculty held a meeting with the leadership of Dianjiang County’s Health Development & Planning Commission, Dianjiang Centers for Disease Control, Dianjiang County Peoples’ Hospital and Dianjiang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The local leadership introduced the county’s medical and sanitary conditions, health policy and medical insurance, to be followed by in-depth discussions with participating experts. Prof. Yan and her team from GHRC visited Dianjiang County Peoples’ Hospital to assess whether a randomized and controlled trial on stroke rehabilitation is suitable to be conducted in this hospital.

On June 4, GHRC and AHTI team met the leadership and faculty of School of Public Health and Management at CMU. Prof. Jingfu Qiu and Ms. Qin Liu introduced CMU’s history, their research areas, and several proposals for submitting to Living Lab. Prof. Tang introduced the GHRC’s three research focus areas, ongoing projects and future strategies. Michiel Heidenrijk introduced AHTI and Living lab program. All attendees participated in detailed discussions about the Living Lab program, including proposal preparations, expert evaluation commission, evaluation criteria, etc. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Tang, Prof. Qiu and Michiel Heidenrijk signed an MOU for establishing a long-term cooperative relationship for the Living Lab program.
