NBA Commissioner Visits Duke Kunshan Campus

October 13th, Adam Silver, the Commissioner of the National Basketball Association (NBA), visited Duke Kunshan University campus, where he met with students, faculty and staff. Silver is leading the 2015 NBA Global Games tour in Shenzhen and Shanghai in China.

Duke Kunshan students and staff gave Silver a warm welcome on his first visit to the campus. Sliver gave away 8 tickets to students for watching a preseason game between Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers to be held in Shanghai October 14th.

Haiyan Gao, vice chancellor for academic affairs at DKU, led a campus tour for Silver, who was impressed by the campus and the environment. ‘I hadn’t had the sense that it would be this open, pretty and green. And I love the architecture here. I love the wide open spaces. It seems the students are ehthusiastic about being here as well, ” said Silver. Gao and other senior DKU administrators met with Silver after the tour and discussed the university’s future development.

Silver earned an undergraduate degree from Duke Univeristy in 1984 and was elected to the Duke University Board of Trustees in July 2015.
