You need to arrange how you will pay tuition and accommodation fees before arriving. The cost of living in Kunshan varies depending on your lifestyle. It is important to plan out how much money you will need to bring while studying here in Kunshan.

Getting to the University
The address of Duke Kunshan University is No.8, Duke Avenue, Kunshan, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. You are suggested to come on campus throuth the following ways.
From Kunshan South Station (昆山南站), you can travel to the University by the university shuttle bus for free (Click here for the schedule).
Student volunteers will be able to meet you in the station and guide you to the shuttle bus.
If the bus cannot meet your train, you are suggested to come on campus by Taxi, or take Bus No. 22 or No. 31 to Duke Kunshan University.
- Arriving at Shanghai Honqiao International Airport (SHA)
You may take a high-speed train from Hongqiao to Kunshan South Station (昆山南站) at your own expense, where you can then meet the University Shuttle (Click here for the schedule). Trains between Shanghai and Kunshan generally runs every 30 minutes and the train journey takes about 20 minutes.
- Arriving at Pudong International Airport (PVG)
From Pudong International Airport (上海浦东国际机场), you can travel to the University by the university shuttle bus for free (Click here for the schedule).
If your flight cannot meet the schedule, you can take the inter-city shuttle bus from Pudong to Kunshan, which takes about 2 hours and costs around 80 RMB. It leaves approximately every hour, and then come on campus by Taxi.

- By Private Car
You can drive to the university if you like. For undergraduate students, you are suggested to arrive from the west gate of the university on Wuhan University Road, which is near the conference center where you live; for graduate students, you are suggested to arrive from the north gate of the university on Chuanshi Road, which is near the student residence hall where you live.
If you have any questions related to arrival and pick-up service, you can send E-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org for help.
You may also consider taking a taxi or requesting pickup service for ease and comfort. Duke Kunshan University will be happy to assist with the latter. You need to bear the expense and pay the driver directly in cash after the completion of the service. To request an airport pickup service, please send an email to email@example.com . Please be aware check-in ends at 6 pm; you should plan your travel accordingly and at least several hours prior to 6 pm.
We recommend that you get travel insurance before you leave. Make sure it covers you for any medical emergencies while traveling and the full value of any lost luggage.
Medical Insurance while studying at Duke Kunshan University
Medical Insurance for Chinese Mainland Students
All Mainland Chinese students will be covered by the Accidental Insurance Plan from Duke Kunshan University and are strongly encouraged to purchase the Kunshan Social Insurance. Coverage includes general out-patient, out-patient special illness, and in-patient medical care within the Kunshan area. More detailed information regarding the accidental insurance plan and social insurance coverage and benefits will be introduced during orientation.
Medical Insurance for Students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan
Students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan (HMT) are covered by the Accidental Insurance Plan at no extra cost to the students. HMT students are strongly recommended to purchase and enroll in the Social Insurance Plan from Kunshan. Coverage includes general out-patient, out-patient special illness, and in-patient medical care within the Kunshan area. HMT students also have the option to purchase and enroll in the international students’ medical health insurance.
Medical Insurance for International Students
International students are required to purchase the Medical Insurance Plan from Duke Kunshan University. The Medical Insurance Plan includes medical coverage in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and International SOS around the world. The insurance enrollment is on a yearly basis and students are automatically enrolled prior to arrival. Detailed information on coverage and benefits can be found HERE.
