The Office of Faculty Affairs, working closely with various functional offices at Duke Kunshan University, supports all faculty in their scholarship, teaching and research, internal and external engagement, professional development, and personal challenges, so that they can focus on achieving excellence.
The Office of Faculty Affairs supports faculty development initiatives regarding reappointment, tenure, promotion, Duke-DKU Faculty Mentoring Program, annual faculty evaluation, pre-tenure sabbatical application, etc.
Reappointment Orientation
The orientation aims to provide instructions for preparation of dossiers for tenure/non-tenure track faculty reappointment and provide guidelines for formatting dossiers for reappointment.
The workshop invites faculty across DKU’s academic units who have been tenured to share their personal experiences and valuable insights regarding the tenure process.
The application procedures, individual experiences and best practices for a successful sabbatical are shared during the workshop.
The program is initiated to provide guidance by a group of senior Duke faculty to junior DKU faculty to support their personal professional development towards tenure.
The New Faculty Orientation sessions are held to welcome new faculty members and give them an introduction to DKU curriculum, guidelines, resources and functions of different offices.
This event serves as a platform for all faculty annual report reviewers to engage in discussions about the evaluation process, criteria, feedback and share their best practices.
This event is organized to raise awareness of issues concerning women in all areas of higher education, foster a thriving environment for women career development and leadership recognition, and promote holistic well-being of women at DKU.
Summer Research Program Grant (Annually)
The grant supports new initiatives for significant contributions to research, creative practice and higher education.
The grant encourages the engagement of DKU faculty (particularly junior faculty) with colleagues at Duke to foster collaborative academic or creative endeavors.
The grant provides partial support of travel expenses for DKU faculty to work on a project and increase networking opportunities at Duke.
The grant helps faculty members to develop new projects of research or to complete a current project, which will lead to publications or other products (e.g., artistic installations, performances, or productions).
